Poems – Creative Gifts to Inspire Our Mindfulness Practice

Poems are precious.

They inspire us to pause and can be powerful when we allow them to touch us.

A good poem can remind us of something deep which we might already know but have forgotten in the business of our life.

This is a list of ten of my favourite poems revealing something deep.

Which poems touch you? Feel free to share your own list in the comments.

  • Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Von Guten Maechten (By Good Forces)
  • Hafiz: And For No Reason
  • Hafiz: If It Is Not Too Dark
  • Hafiz: To Build A Swing
  • John O’Donohue: Beannacht
  • Mary Oliver: I worried
  • Mary Oliver: Wild Geese
  • Martha Postlethwaite: Clearing
  • Pablo Neruda: Keeping Quiet
  • Robert Frost: The Road Not Taken

Hafiz says: ‘Always exercise your heart’s knowing.’

May we remember to explore creative ways to exercise our heart’s knowing.
