A Good Friend

A good friend has seen all your sides

And still chooses to hang out with you

A good friend offers you shelter when the storms in your life threaten to knock you off your feet

And doesn’t ask when you will leave again

A good friend knows when a hug is more needed than a thousand words

And holds you tight until you stop crying

A good friend lets you know when you’re in the wrong

And doesn’t judge you for it

A good friend can see your mistakes

And smile at them

A good friend can watch you fail, again and again

And still love you

A good friend listens to the story that has been told too many times

And doesn’t yawn

A good friend offers you encouragement, when you have forgotten once again what you can do

And knows this is not the last time

A good friend makes mistakes, just like you

And you forgive

What would it feel like

If you were your own best friend today?
